Social media app design project.
UpBranding is a social media app that has two main functions. You can either post your photos or videos to sell, or you can post bounties for specific photos or videos you need for your business.
This was a freelance project I worked on for a company where I worked closely with their director and main developer for the app.
Design Thinking is a methodology that aims to tackle highly complex problems. The Design Thinking process can be separated into five different areas for success:
In today's digital era, businesses frequently encounter challenges when it comes to sourcing visual content for their marketing, advertising, and promotional needs. There is also a lack of efficient platforms that connect businesses directly with a diverse pool of content creators who can fulfill their specific visual requirements.
This app should facilitate a seamless and secure transaction process, allowing businesses to compensate content creators directly for their contributions. By providing a user-friendly platform that streamlines the content acquisition process, businesses can gain access to a vast repository of high-quality visual content, while content creators have the opportunity to monetize their skills and creativity.
"I need some more organization when making games and finding new players"
"I can't afford to high-quality photographers or videographers for marketing materials."
When working with the team, I was given rough sketches and a color scheme of purple and yellow to work with in the beginning. From there, I met remotely with both the director and developer of the app to flush out ideas and begin wireframing. Once we had a usable flow established, we worked closely picking fonts and locking down colors to use to finish up the UI for the app as well as brannding.
Haven already received rough sketches made wireframing easy. Once we decided on the layout for the basic screens needed, we played around with different flow ideas to see what would be the best UX decisions to make sure the app is not confusing and hard to use. Once everything was established, I started branding and getting the UI elements finalized.
With the wireframing complete, all that was left was to add the UI elements. For a color scheme, I chose red, black, and white after showing friends and family options and they reported back that these colors went nicely with the branding image I had in mind. From there, I found a sports-themed font for the logo of the app, and went with a safe serif for the main font choice.
Working on this project was my first official Android-based design. I default to making designs for IOS development so working on UpBranding was great to dip my toes into Android designs. The team I worked with was fantastic and I couldn't have asked for a better director and developer to work with. I learned how to work through flow issues, brand for an app, and work directly with a developer.
Feel free to play with the prototype.
